Jette Joop is an all-round designer. She started her career studying at the Art Center College of Design in California. The daughter of Wolfgang Joop then worked for various designers, such as Barry Kieselstein-Cord and Ralph Lauren. Her company, Jette GmbH, was founded in Hamburg in 1997. In collaboration with various companies, Jette designs and sells a wide range of utility and luxury goods. Her first gold jewellery collection was launched in 2000, followed by a women’s clothing line in 2003, the fragrance Jette in 2005 (which won the Scent Stars award in 2006) and finally footwear, eyewear, men's and children's fashion ranges. In conjunction with WMF, the Jette Joop label launched a line of cutlery and table accessories. In Jette Joop’s own words, the goal of all her designs is to make luxury design accessible to a wide audience. At the same time, she believes that sophisticated and modern design should be combined with functionality and high quality.
Jette’s style is young, modern, trend-oriented and inspired by the things that influence her every day life. This creates a special kind of crossover where automotive design can influence new jewellery, which influences new architecture, and which then circles around to influence new car designs. Designer Jette Joop states “My creations should be fun for people, beautify their everyday lives and still remain affordable. No more, no less”.
