At the early age of 20, New Yorker Karl Anderson started his own label under the name Michael Kors. At that time he was working in a New York boutique, from where he also sold his first collections. Just three years later, he showed at his first fashion show and gained success with his minimalist, but sporty and elegant style. Kors’ breakthrough came whilst working as creative director for renowned French fashion house Céline. During this time, Kors won numerous fashion awards and gained much attention worldwide. The Michael Kors label benefitted from its chief designer’s success, whose fashion represents a jet set and luxurious lifestyle to women and men around the world.
For 30 years, Michael Kors has advocated a chic and simple American style and continues to prove that fashion can inspire, even if it is reduced to a minimum. Luxury and minimalism are expressed by Michel Kors using sophisticated materials, which are made into simple, elegant designs. This is true not only for his women's and men's fashion lines, but also for the accessory line that Kors has offered since 2001. Watches, fragrances and eyewear all communicate the overall concept of the label, as do shoes, swimwear, sportswear and much more.
Michael Kors has its own boutiques in numerous countries, dresses well-known personalities, including Jennifer Lopez, and has designed exclusive outfits for Hollywood films such as The Thomas Crown Affair.
