Italian label Gucci is the epitome of sheer luxury and elegant glamour. It is a widely recognised brand, even amongst those who do not follow the world of fashion and trends. Gucci is a cult operating at the highest level. The trademark of the company can be interpreted in 2 ways: on one hand, as the initials of the founder Guccio Gucci, which have been reinterpreted over the years, and on the other hand as a bridle, buckle and stirrup motif, often in metal, which reference the company’s saddlery origins.
The timeless beauty and elegance of Gucci Fashion has always excited the biggest stars, with Peter Sellers, Samuel Beckett, Liz Taylor and Jackie Kennedy to name but a few who have helped the luxury label to its growing fame. The latter wore a Gucci shoulder bag, still sought after today, which is widely known as the "Jackie O". A silk scarf with an exclusive floral print was created in the 1960s for Grace Kelly, just as relevant today as it was back then.
Gucci grew rapidly: in the 1970s, the fashion house expanded to the Far East and in the early 90s, fashion’s grand master Tom Ford became creative director, giving Gucci’s classic style a touch of glamor and provocation. In general, it is the subtle sexiness of the label which is mentioned repeatedly in connection with Gucci. The combination of innovative, sometimes daring fashion and top-quality Italian craftsmanship have made Gucci unique, since Guccio Gucci opened his small shop for leather goods in Florence in 1921. A 2007 study named Gucci as the world's most sought-after luxury goods brand. This company certainly owes this accolade, in large part, to its head designer Frida Giannini who maintains, and has revived, the heritage of the house in an extraordinary way, but also adds a touch of carefree youthfulness, playful extravagance and self-confident femininity. In addition, she takes the social responsibility of the company very seriously, dedicating herself to the company’s partnerships with UNICEF and a foundation to combat violence against women.
