The fashion city of New York can no longer be seen as inferior to Milan and Paris, when brands that have been founded there have such creative influence. The Carolina Herrera label is a perfect example and a tribute to its hometown. But who is Carolina Herrera?
This entrepreneur is a real all-rounder. Not only a designer with a passion, but also the founder of her eponymous label. At just 13 years of age, Carolina Herrera (born in 1939) attended her first catwalk show, where she discovered the indescribable flair of the world of fashion. What’s amazing, is that Carolina Herrera turned down the opportunity to spend years studying at design school, instead choosing to teach herself the craft – in a much shorter space of time. On the advice of a friend, she launched a small collection of dresses in 1980 which was met with great success. Her first steps into the world of fashion world were taken. A year later, the Caroline Herrera fashion empire was born.
Founded in 1981, the genuine New York label has established itself as a world-renowned and major player in the eyewear market. After starting with designer fashion and wedding gowns, the designer later decided to move into eyewear. Luxury and elegance are the attributes that describe the collections best. A feminine and timeless style makes the glasses equally perfect for business or everyday use. With meticulous attention to detail, each pair of Caroline Herrera glasses has its own elegant colour and shape.
In its heyday, the grand dame of haute couture dressed celebrities such as Jackie Kennedy and was the chosen label for many influential women.
